PRODUCT SPECIFICATIONS:
Shade Structures are engineered to meet the 1997 Uniform Building Code, BOCA, or SBC. The Division of State Architect in California has approved certain structure sizes. All structures meet minimum load requirements as defined in the appropriate building code. Where additional load criteria is specified, this will be specifically noted on the drawings.
Loads These are developed to meet customer and local building code requirements. Our standard specifications include: Uplift 25 psf Roofs 16 psf Wind Loads 20 psf
Structural Steel The steel is selected based on the structure’s size load and span requirements and is constructed in accordance with AISC specifications. Standard and modular structures: Steel with rust-inhibited zinc coating internally and externally applied during the manufacturing process and a clear polymer coat for powder coat adhesion. Custom structures: As per engineers’ specifications. Where structures or parts are joined, an internal sleeving tolerance of 0.0625 inches using tensile strength steel sections with a minimum sleeve length of 6 inches are adhered to provide added stability to the structures.
Welding The steel fabrication is performed in a State-approved facility, using certified welders with a minimum of three years experience. Welding designs are specified and executed in accordance with the American Welding Society specifications for all of our structures.
Erection Bolts and Hardware All structural bolts are made of stainless steel for added corrosion resistance or high tensile, zinc plated hardware where additional strength is required. Tensioning Cable All steel cable is galvanized and sized to meet engineering loads, starting at ¼”.
Concrete Our concrete is installed by licensed contractors and in strict compliance with the American Concrete Institute Building Code 318-89. Specific specifications detailed below are standard: 2000 PSI @ 28 days Slump of 3” – 5”
Footings All footings are based on soil conditions, span, structural load, height, appropriate building code, and city requirements. Soil / Geotechnical reports will be obtained prior to engineering if necessary.
Powdercoating All structural steel is cleaned, degreased, or etched to ensure proper adhesion of powdercoat in accordance with manufacture specifications. The structural steel is powdercoated with paint appropriate to the intended use. Where the steel is used in close proximity to the sea or a swimming pool, a protective layer of the special-purpose powdercoat is applied.
Shade Fabric Our shade fabric is made of UV stabilized high-density polyethylene, knitted with a monofilament and tape yarn filler, and is 10ft wide. Fire protection tests were performed and certified by the Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio, Texas. Our shade fabric is regarded as the industry leader in quality and functionality worldwide. It has been proven to withstand extremely harsh climate conditions in the United States and in the desert areas of Australia and Southern Africa.
